Wenjia Cai is an associate professor of global change economics in Department of Earth System Science, Tsinghua University, China. She has been working on the health and economic impacts of action and inaction on climate change, as well as how these impacts are distributed among different regions and groups of people. She is also working on the design of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality pathways.  

Being one of the commissioners in the Lancet Commission on Health and Climate Change in 2015, she has participated in the work of Lancet Countdown on health and climate change since 2017. She now serves as the director of The Lancet Countdown Regional Centre for Asia, and leads the China Report of the Lancet Countdown on health and climate change.
